December 19th, 2023 No Comments

We at Mythic Delirium (aka myself, Anita and Sydney) are all pleased as punch that Yukimi Ogawa’s debut short fiction collection, Like Smoke, Like Light, landed on Publishers Weekly’s short list of the Best Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror Books of 2023. Congratulations to Yukimi, and a little pat on our own backs for continuing to be the Teensy Micropress That Could. We certainly suspect that this won’t be the last honor for Like Smoke, Like Light. The recognition won by Yukimi’s book

Top 20 most read stories and poems in (the second half of) 2016

January 4th, 2017 No Comments

So here’s a fun thing I realized I could do. Inspired by my colleagues over at Black Gate, where, in another geologic era, I was a quasi-occasional guest blogger, I’ve assembled a list of the most-read stories and poems on this website from the beginning of July through the end of December 2016. Why only half the year? I’ll try to keep it short and amusing. I’m not a luddite, but neither am I a technophile, so I don’t rush

Mythic Delirium invades Google Play

April 24th, 2016 No Comments

Thanks to a surprise opportunity, e-book editions of the Mythic Delirium Books anthologies and collections (and a number of my own books, too) are now available on Google Play, the Android equivalent of iBooks. One feature of Google Play that particularly impresses me: readers who buy a book can toggle back and forth between an EPUB edition and a PDF edition, thus having the choice of a standard e-book with flowing text and a facsimile of the print book available

Tanith Lee and CLOCKWORK PHOENIX

May 26th, 2015 1 Comment

This morning I learned that Tanith Lee has passed away. Tanith had stories in all four of the previous volumes of Clockwork Phoenix. As Anita put it in a metaphor I know Tanith would appreciate, she was part of the spine of Clockwork Phoenix. Tanith’s story “The Woman” was the very first story I ever accepted for Clockwork Phoenix, back when we were being published through Vera Nazarian’s Norilana Books. With its rich language, sumptuous setting, surreal atmosphere and provocative

CLOCKWORK PHOENIX 4 story by Patricia Russo at Podcastle

September 25th, 2014 No Comments

I’m lagging behind in reporting this, but better than never reporting it at all, as they say. Audio website Podcastle has posted an adaptation of Patricia Russo’s humorous and touching “The Old Woman With No Teeth” from Clockwork Phoenix 4. Wilson Fowlie and M.K. Hobson read the parts of the scribe and the Old Woman, respectively.   This is the third Podcastle adapation of a Clockwork Phoenix 4 story story. Listen to Kenneth Schneyer’s “Selected Program Notes From the Retrospective
