Association of Jewish Libraries reviews THE HISTORY OF SOUL 2065; the stories behind the stories

March 4th, 2020 No Comments

The latest Association of Jewish Libraries newsletter contains a lovely (if somewhat spoilerific!) review of The History of Soul 2065 by Barbara Krasnoff. Here’s some highlights, sans the spoiler-y parts:

“This book of connected short stories traces several generations of two childhood friends: Chana Krasulka and Sophia Stein. In each story, a character is touched by the supernatural, spirits from the past, present, or future, and occasionally Time itself . . . The characters, mostly Jewish, are engaging and relatable. In each of the stories, the spirits work to bring people together. This collection is highly recommended.”

I’m grateful the AJL chose to shine a light on Barbara’s mosaic novel and hopeful this will bring it to the attention of audiences outside the genre pool

Meanwhile, Barbara has finished writing her fascinating essays explaining the personal and historical references that inform the 20 interconnected stories, and she’s created a website that puts them all in one place, which you can get to by clicking the banner below.

If you’ve not yet explored The History of Soul 2065 for yourself, I encourage you to explore this new site to whet your appetite. And if you have read the book and know which story you’d like to learn more about, I swiped all the links so that you can go directly to whichever entry you’d like.

Happy reading!
