Rites of spring: MYTHIC DELIRIUM marks 2 years in digital format

April 2nd, 2015 1 Comment

Now available via subscription and on Amazon/Weightless, with April featured content live on our site:   Our latest issue caps off the first two years of Mythic Delirium as a digital ’zine with a sampling of strange horror, stranger science fiction and weird alternate history.   For our fiction offerings, C.S. MacCath combines Norse mythology with quantum theory in “Sing the Crumbling City,” Jessy Randall’s “Maybe a Witch Lives There” supplies a wicked homage to Shirley Jackson, and Adam Howe’s

Ysabeau Wilce praises BONE SWANS, our forthcoming story collection from C.S.E. Cooney

March 25th, 2015 No Comments

Andre Norton Award winner Ysabeau S. Wilce (author of Flora’s Dare) has some very kind words for Bone Swans by C.S.E. Cooney, the first-ever single author collection from Mythic Delirium Books:   “Bone Swans is a joy of feathery bones & ghoulish clowns. I adored every word. Like an eyas cries for meat, I cry for more. C.S.E. Cooney’s a major talent and these are major talent stories. Who can resist hero rats, pouting swans, feral children, flying carpets and

February 11th, 2015 No Comments

I’m thrilled to be able to reveal the cover and contents for the next issue of Mythic Delirium — Number 1.4, April-June 2015. This is the issue that will mark two years of our zine’s reincarnation as a newfangled digital thing.   I’m also honored to actually have the bragging rights to the following bit of news: this upcoming cover marks the American debut of Italian sequential artist Elena de’ Grimani, creator of the vampire comic book and character Rigel,

Mythic Delirium stories: Awards eligibility post

December 1st, 2014 No Comments

As of this morning, all 12 of the original stories we published in the digital pages of Mythic Delirium in 2014 are free to read online. This seems the best and fairest time for our official awards eligibility post, as award consideration season is just getting underway.   All of these works are short stories by the standard of just about every award out there. Only Ken Schneyer’s story, I think, could be categorized as science fiction; all the rest

Oct.-Dec. issue of MYTHIC DELIRIUM live! Plus new featured content

October 6th, 2014 1 Comment

The newest issue of Mythic Delirium is absolutely and completely alive, stepping out from behind the Veil as Halloween approaches…   This is how I tried to explain this “eclectic even by our standards” issue in my editorial:   We’re bringing 2014 to a close with a cornucopia of offerings that don’t have a theme, per se, unless a cornucopia full of diverse offerings can itself be a theme.   To mix together some metaphors, within this patchwork quilt you’ll

A little progress report

September 2nd, 2014 No Comments

This is just a quick note to let folks know how things stand in the house of Mythic Delirium.   First, submissions: as always, I have a ton of other projects going on; as a result, I’ve only this past week begun responding to submissions received for issues 1.4 and 2.1. Though I would have preferred to start reading a little bit quicker, this isn’t too far off my planned schedule. The reading window still has a month to go,

Goodreads/Kindle giveaway: UNSEAMING, HUNGRY CONSTELLATIONS, THE BLACK FIRE CONCERTO and others

July 27th, 2014 No Comments

Since this particular adventure involves several Mythic Delirium Books titles, I’m stepping onto the other side of the writer/editor divide. There’s five more days to go in the Goodreads giveaway for my upcoming short story collection Unseaming: twenty paperback advance reading copies are up for grabs. To promote that giveaway, I thought I would expand it with a few more.   Starting today and continuing through July 31, to coincide with the end of the Unseaming giveaway, five of my

Announcing HUNGRY CONSTELLATIONS

July 23rd, 2014 No Comments

A year ago, during the Kickstarter campaign to create this magazine, I offered as a reward an omnibus collection of my poetry in ebook form. This week, what I’ve actually released is something better.   Hungry Constellations is my first poetry collection available in ebook format (and it is available in paperback too.) Dominik Parisien sorted through two decades of my poetry to curate the book, with selections from my collections Strange Wisdoms of the Dead and The Journey to
